" The Sibling Group helps me feel special rather than just my brother. It helps me understand that I'm not the only one with a disabled person in the family. I have got friends that understand my feelings when I'm down. When I'm on a trip I can feel free from my responsibility. My friends at the group understand what I go through as they go through the same, rather than my friends do at school. If there wasn't a Sibling group I don't know how I would be able to cope. There are no disadvantages."
"The sibling group has helped me because I've made friends with people who are in the same boat as me. We all have either a brother or sister and since we have to help at home a lot it is great to have some good day's out. I'm glad we have these day's out because we have a great helper who can help us if there is something wrong and everybody on the trip is kind and we all get along because we all know
what it's like to have a disabled brother or sister and some of our fiends don't realise how much hard work it is and it's great to have these day's off."
"I have a disabled sister ... and I have to help look after her. We joined the Pembrokeshire Sibling Group about 2 years ago. We go out on a lot of day trips like Oakwood Park and Heatherton Park. We also go to the cinema, swimming and horse riding. But the best thing we do is stay over at holiday camps for a few days. We really have fun doing different activities. We have made lots of new friends in the same position as us. I enjoy being part of the Pembrokeshire Sibling Group as it means we can go out and have fun and forget about our problems for a while."

"Life can be quite hectic in our house. (The disabled child) is very demanding and requires a lot of attention. She is also unwell quite often. She sees a variety of specialists and is always attending appointments. (The siblings') life is probably quite different to most of their friends. We don't always go on trips or holidays as often as we would like, as this can be quite difficult. Activities are often cancelled, or cut short, or just endured if (the disabled child) is having a “bad day or is poorly!"
Going to the sibling group gives me time for myself, doing things I like to do like
the drama session. Being able to go place’s I would not be able to go because of
the time and cost.

I think the sibling group is really fun because we go places where I have never been
before. It gets me away from my family I do not have to put my mind on them. I
also enjoyed the drama session
I find the sibling group to be a good place to go
to get away from my brothers and sisters also its allows me to meet new people it
also gives me a chance to see different paces like the trip away to Cornwall.
